New Jewelry Trends

Just as I was getting into making my own dainty jewelry, I noticed a shift in trends. Gold earrings are getting chunkier again, and many designers have started to make beautiful, artistic pieces. I've been seeing a lot of purposefully imperfectly made creations of body parts. Knobbly Studio (whose instagram account I'm obsessed with!) is making earrings in the shape of full-figured women, and even Mango has started creating earrings in the shape of faces. I currently have my eyes on these awesome Young Frankk, hand-shaped earrings from Clomes.ch

Smells Great!

My new perfume: Jo Malone - English Pear and Freesia. I bought it at Zurich Airport on my last trip to Finland. I usually go for fruity scents but was looking for something a little more sophisticated than the sickly sweet strawberry type. This is a mix between a fresh, clean scent (that won't remind you of bathroom cleaning supplies) and an exquisite fruity scent. Try it!

Frohe Ostern

Frohe Ostern! Hier ein sehr einfaches aber leicht aufwändiges Dessertli, passend für die nächsten Tage:

Einkaufsliste (für 4 Personen):
4 Kinder Überraschungseier (möglicherweise sogar lieber die doppelte Menge einkaufen, sie gehen schnell kaputt)
1 Tafel weisse Schokolade
1/4 l Vollrahm
Aprikosenmarmelade

Anleitung
Den Vollrahm steif schlagen, die weisse Schokolade schmelzen und dazugeben. Gut mischen und vorsichtig in das zuvor halbierte Überraschungsei geben. Mit einem kleinen Löffel die Aprikosenmarmelade als Deko dazugeben.

Da das Schokoladenmousse sehr cremig ist, würde ich zum servieren noch frische Früchte zur Abwechslung beilegen.

Plants.

Plants. I still struggle to keep them alive, but over the past years, I've become passionate about getting to know different types of plants and the environments they thrive in. I have planted a number of avocado pits and have thoroughly enjoyed watching them grow. Here are the criteria I focus on when picking out new plants:

1.) Survival of the fittest: Since my current apartment does not get a lot of sunlight, I have to pick plants that are happy being in the shade. I've found that orchids and ivy are very hard to kill :)

2.) What's your story? I love plants that have a story behind them. It could be that they were a gift from a loved one, or that I planted them myself from a fruit pit. Anything that goes a little bit further than "I bought them at the store", wins my heart.

3.) Feed me. My favorit plants by far are the ones that will eventually have fruits. Avocado plants, fig trees, lemon trees, even if they never end up producing an edible fruit, the antcipation of it is enough excitement for me :)

4.) Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. I love plants with simple, green leaves. I use fun flower pots such as this one from group partner to make them stand out a bit more. Once I have my own place, I plan on attending a Macrame workshop (such as this one) to make hanging plant arrangements.

Alles, was glänzt...

Vor einigen Monaten hatte ich wiedermal Lust auf einen kreativen Ausgleich zum Büroalltag. Ich habe mich bei Migros Klubschule in Bern zum Goldschmiede Workshop angemeldet und dort ein neues Hobby gefunden. Während zwei Samstagen habe ich gelernt, selber Gold zu formen und zu löten und habe mir ein paar ganz tolle Schmuckstücke gemacht, die ich seither kaum mehr ablege.
